Care Shaped by Experience, Family and Faith
April House has cared for seniors in Marysville since 2006. Viola Mirzaei-Nejad knew the home long before becoming its owner — she had already worked there and considered it the nicest Adult Family Home she had ever worked in.
When the previous owner retired, Viola chose to purchase April House and continue what had already made the home special while bringing her own decades of caregiving experience, personal values, and hands-on approach into its future.
VIOLA'S STORY
A Lifetime of Caring for Older Adults
Viola began caring for elderly people when she was just 16 years old in West Virginia. What started early became a lifelong career, and she has now spent more than 30 years working as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
Her understanding of caregiving is also deeply personal. Viola spent seven years caring for her own grandmother, giving her firsthand experience with the responsibility, patience, and trust families place in the person caring for someone they love.
Those experiences continue to shape the way Viola leads April House today. She remains closely involved with residents, caregivers, and families rather than operating the home from a distance.

The Values Behind the Care
Viola’s approach to care is rooted in the values she grew up with in West Virginia: faith, family, hard work, hospitality, integrity, compassion, and respect for elders.
Those values influence the way April House is run each day — from how residents are spoken to and cared for, to how families are included and how caregivers are expected to support the people who live in the home.
Viola is also involved in the broader Adult Family Home community. She is a Certified End-of-Life Doula, Founder of the Washington Adult Family Home Alliance, Co-Founder of Caring Adult Family Homes of the North Sound, and has served in leadership with the Snohomish chapter of the Adult Family Home Council.

An Owner Who Stays Involved
HANDS-ON CARE
Viola remains closely involved in the day-to-day life of April House. She knows the residents, communicates with families, works alongside caregivers, and stays connected to the care being provided rather than managing the home from a distance.
Families are encouraged to visit, ask questions, stay involved, and remain part of their loved one’s everyday life. Open communication between residents, families, caregivers, and outside healthcare providers is an important part of how April House approaches care.
